The work does not open the gate.
It helps people recognize that it is already there.

Meet Carolyn

Our beliefs are often shaped by our childhood experiences. These experiences influence how we view the world, ourselves, and our place within it. Depending on the nature and severity of these experiences, our emotional and nervous systems develop protective strategies that help us navigate life and function effectively. While these protective mechanisms are often adaptive, they can sometimes become limiting, backfire, or create challenges in our relationships, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

In many cases, the youngest and most vulnerable parts of ourselves become exiled or hidden beneath layers of protection. These protective patterns work to maintain the status quo, often preventing meaningful and lasting change.

My practice integrates somatic therapy (a bottom-up approach), cognitive therapies (a top-down approach), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients access and heal both old wounds and current patterns of behavior.

I use somatic tools to access and process emotions held within the body, helping clients develop greater awareness of their nervous system responses. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients understand the difference between automatic limbic reactions and thoughtful cognitive responses. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) further introduces the concept of Wise Mind, supporting the integration of emotional and rational perspectives to foster more balanced decision-making and lasting change.
